Fisher Island

Fisher Island is a manifestation of exclusivity. This 216-acre man-made island just 3 miles from Miami is one of the most exclusive communities in the world. Fisher Island was once among the top wealthiest zip code, "33109" reported by Forbes in 2015. Prior to that, in the 2010 census, Wikipedia reported it as the highest per capita income in the United States. Historically, the island changed ownership numerous times with various families and remained a one family asset for many years but it wasn't until the 1980's that construction began on the island and its renovations of the Vanderbilt family era in architecture and design that began to attract Oprah Winfrey, Mel Brooks, and Boris Becker among many others. The island residences are mostly condominiums and townhouses with now a handful of single family homes. It is still a prototype of exclusivity and privacy; perhaps due to the fact that you can only access the island by car ferry, private yacht or helicopter. It does host a beach club with membership fees and a golf club with its own dues and membership fees. A hotel, restaurant, bank, spa & salon, marina, private beach and school built by the Potamkin family, can all be found on this residential retreat.
